I finished the notan quilt i started a couple of weeks ago in a guild workshop.  The colors are bold, the background is black, but it is only baby quilt sized.  I have no babies coming in my circle and even if I did, I am not sure this would be their first choice for a baby quilt.  However, my housekeeper’s daughter is having a baby in October and she was very taken with these colors so it has found a home.  I am pleased to have it go to someone in my extended family. Here is a detail view of the center.

I made one for another of her granddaughters last year.  It was a fabric with paper dolls printed on it and I cut out the companion fabric which had all the clothes for the dolls.  I backed them with flannel and the little girl plays with the quilt like she would paper dolls.

I have tons of things to finish that stacked up while my arm was not useful but before I can get down to them, I had to clean up my sewing room.  I had not taken care of left over fabric for some time and I was the happy recipient of some gift fabrics so I had to take this week and get them all sorted and filed.  I cut fat quarters, 10” squares, 5” squares and 2.5” strips.  anything larger than a fat quarter was just filed.  What a scrap source I have now!  I can hardly wait to get started again but have to finish the stacked up quilts waiting.

What is going on in your sewing room?  Is it organized and all tidy or does it look like the Wreck of the Hesperus? (My mother used to tell me my bedroom looked like the Wreck of the Hesperus.  One day, I happened to see the painting at LACMA.  I cracked up.)
