We have 3 birthdays in July and so we usually get together for a family meal. We have done this for years and with the loss of the elder level of family, it is a smaller but more poignant gathering now. My brothers in law gave everyone a gift certificate for Ruth Chris Steak House in Anaheim at Christmas. I don’t think any of us have ever been there. It is very expensive for our bank balances but we are all looking forward to going since about half of it is covered by our cards. What clever boys they are! I hear and read mostly good things about them, other than they are over priced and everything is a la carte. I gather that one of the tricks is that they serve the steaks on sizzling hot platters. Isn’t that the way they serve fajitas? They always scare me. Like flambe salads or desserts. Oh well, never mind, I digress. (Who knew?)
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. So we are off on this adventure Saturday evening. I know we will have a wonderful time regardless of what goes on because we are a fun group. I wonder what I will give any of them as birthday gifts. Gift shopping will be an adventure too.
