Somehow, someway, I have to make changes in everything I touch to make it my own. Case in point, the quilt above. Come below for info.
DK Quilt Guild is a place for quilters to gather, share ideas, projects, and to make the world a better place, one quilt at a time. Join us and share your thoughts, projects, questions, and tips. Quilters here are at many different levels of skill. Beginners and non-quilters are welcome, too.

From Pinterest: “I wooly love ewe” The way its spozed to be.One of my friendship groups selected this pattern from an old magazine. They bought their fabrics together, all the same and very much like the original pattern. I found this image on Pinterest. It looks just like our pattern. However, as you can guess….
I just couldn’t do it like it shows. These are not my colors and truthfully I did not think it was much my pattern but for the sake of comity, I did it, but my way. They knew I would do something different but they all cracked up when I showed up the first day with the sheep blocks finished.
Here is a close up of the blocks. I love the pinks and purples with the grays. You can’t tell, but the outer border is pale gray with silver dots and the thin inner border is darker gray with darker spots. The gray background in the heart blocks and the sashing has flowers impressed into it.
Now, I must tell you, there were a myriad of problems with this pattern. They ranged from telling you to cut an insufficient number of pieces, to making an entire strip set that was not needed at all. Two blocks were made differently from their two mates for no reason at all. You
My sheep and heart blocks close upwere instructed to cut 5 strips, 3 ½ inches wide, width of fabric, cut 2 at 38 inches, sew the other 3 together and cut 2 at 44 inches, which leaves you with a strip 3 ½ wide about 39 inches long instead of making your border 4 strips the same length and making them go around the border instead of short ones on the sides and long ones on the top. You save that whole 5th strip and have a few bits left over! The whole pattern wasted a lot of fabric due to poor explanations and I could only assemble the blocks by looking at the picture of it.
I will be giving a lot of info to my club members to help them avoid the problems I found since I have finished the top way ahead of them.
I will not be able to put this in the quilt show in April this year because it will stay under wraps until we all show ours at the guild. The other ladies want to go up on the stage and show theirs and then ask me didn’t I get mine finished and to bring it up to show. They think that will make the guild members laugh to see the black sheep after their bucolic renditions.
But the next show, I hope it will be there.
