Playing with paint consumes my Tuesdays these days. These are a few new examples. I entertain all questions, comments and rude remarks.
The above piece is done using a technique called a “kiss pour”. I poured paint from the top to the middle and from the bottom to the middle where it met. I like the effect but then I am easy! Here is a close up of some of it.
Distant Shores, close upAs you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

The next 3 are all “dutch pours”. Thin lines of paint are run across the diagonal, top to bottom, and then covered with white paint. Then you use a blow dryer or a straw to blow the white paint off and expose the paint underneath. Each breath moves paint out towards the edges.
Cotton Candy by Cat Riley 6 in sqThe effect is is very lacy and thin.
Neon Caterpillar by Cat Riley 10in x 20 inHere is another bit of close up of Neon Caterpillar.
Neon Caterpillar, close upThis one looks like sweet peas to me, hence the title. I mean, you have to call them something.
Sweet Peas by Cat Riley 4in x 12inI have a collection of small ones that I am going to put magnets on, suitable for any fridge. I think these are as good as some school kids art and deserves a place on the fridge. I actually have “Neon Caterpillar” on the wall in the main room, a gray and teal one in the master bedroom, and the one below in the hall.
Cat in the Corner by Cat Riley 12in x 16in One of my first attemptsI was never much of a painter. I needed to control the art and was not good enough to do that but pour painting is more rewarding and freer for me. It is a lot of luck combined with an eye for color and a willingness to be surprised. It is great fun.
