IAN:Thursday 12/24/2015 The Abercr&Fit Man and his Christmas Balls

I have never shopped at Abercromby and Fitch but someone must have brought this merchandise bag into my home.  Its been years ago, I can’t remember.  But every year, this young man comes down from the rafter in the garage, filled with all the plastic, sparkly Christmas balls that I scatter everywhere.  He has become an old friend, someone I am happy to see at the holidays.  I take this bag down and hold it at arms length and say “Merry Christmas, young man.  Its good to see you again.”  Then I fill the bowls you see here with those bright ornaments.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

After all these years though, he is wearing out.  I have taped some of the seams but the paper is getting thin, like fabric almost.  I thought “I need to let him go but he is so beautiful”.  I actually hatched a plan to cut the front off the bag and put it into a pocket in the front of a quilt bag I use for storage of table linens for Christmas.  The pocket had an advert showing the quilt but now I think he will grace that space and I will say hello to him again next year.

Here’s hoping your holidays are bright and filled with family, old friends and new friends.  I wish blessings on each and everyone of you here and all the people in your lives.
