IAN:Thursday 1/30/2020 Just a Clearing House

A couple of months ago, one of my guild sisters gave me a large shopping bag full of 5 in squares of cotton fabric.  We used to use them to make children’s quilts but have had to give that up since we do not have a place to store all the supplies.  We had been meeting at a local church and had a storage room there plus use of the multipurpose room two days a month.  It was a sweet deal but the congregation dwindled down to 6 people and they turned the property back to the church governing group who has it up for sale.  So I was given a large amount of the left over squares because I take all this stuff and use it.  Or in this case, find it a new home.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!

IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

So, later that day, I went to another church to see if we could use their multipurpose room one day a month for our workshops.  I met the church secretary, Constance, and told her why I was there.  We started talking about quilting, she told me her church group makes those same little children’s quilts and I gave her the bag of squares.  She was thrilled.

I was at that church a couple of weeks ago for a workshop.  The lady who takes care of day care kids in that room told me the secretary had come over and brought each of the kids in her care a newly made quilt.  The kids were excited to have them.

Today, Constance came here to give me some quilting supplies she had been given but had no use for.  I told her about the kids loving her gifts, she was thrilled to hear it.  Then I gave her another large bag full of 6 in squares in exchange for the things she had given me.  She went off quite happy.

The things she gave me were two large kits that make applique quilts.  I don't do that kind of work but contacted two of my co quilters and they will use them and do a great job in the bargain.  Constance got them out of her house, I got them out of my house.  I have nothing left over to store and everyone is happy!

The End
