I bought this cute plastic planter at Dollar Tree back in Feb and it came in handy recently. I actually bought 3 to stack but that didn’t happen.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

This planter has green onions, from the store in it, the cut ends of 2 heads of romaine lettuce and 3 radish bottoms. The green onions are there to stay fresh until I need one. I cut the greens off and they regrow for a long time until I finally use the whole onion in some recipe, maybe in a few weeks. Think about how rotten they would have been by then if they had been in the fridge. I like this way of keeping them.
The two romaine butts came from Caesar Salads last week and they both have leaves springing up in the middle of them. I am interested to see how this turns out. I don’t know if they will grow enough to make a salad or not. We’ll see.
As for the radishes, I don’t expect much. When I looked at one that had sprouted, I thought it might be cool to plant it. I cut the top off and then realized that was not the root end but the leaves. I had washed the root end because it looked like it had cat fur on it even though I knew that was not the case. Anyway, those were the roots. So I took another one, cut it in half and planted it. The interwebs say the chances of it growing are not good but I grew a pineapple from the cut off top so I am giving it a try.
There is also a cutting of a blooming succulent my Saturday morning BFF gave me a couple of weeks ago. I just stuck it in there to root until I get around to sticking it in somewhere else.
Lil Zen Face Timed with me today to ask me about dividing succulents at her apartment building that we planted when she moved in 7 years ago. It was great to see her and see what she was talking about, like a visit.
What are you doing to keep from being too bored?
Be safe and be well.
