DK Quilt Guild: Morning Star Quilt In Progress

This pattern was featured on the Missouri Star Quilt Company’s YouTube channel in May.  I just saw it, I am a little behind.  I liked it a lot, had the supplies, the time, and the interest.  This will be a kind of pictogram diary.  Come in below the info and sign up to write a diary.  We will even take recipes!

DK Quilt Guild is a place for quilters to gather, share ideas, projects, and to make the world a

better place, one quilt at a time. Join us and share your thoughts, projects, questions, and tips. Quilters here are at many different levels of skill. Beginners and non-quilters are welcome, too.

Would you like to write a future DK Quilt Guild diary?  We NEED writers! Your diary can be elaborate and full of photos, a simple story of your own quilting history or that of someone you love, a discussion of a current project or a technique you're learning, new adventures... You could post quilt retreat-day recipes (things like crockpot meals, so food appears without much attention from you)... We could do show and tell or open thread, also, but either way, we need diarists to host. It is EASY if you're willing to take the chance. Please join in! Please volunteer within the comments or you can send Pam from Calif a kosmail.

The block above is the first of at least 4.  It is a big block, 20” when finished.  It is made of 2 ½ in strips, 6 in blocks and 8 in blocks cut on the diagonal.  Simple and fast because it is so big.

Here is picture 1.  Diagram 1: 16 of this set of supplies for each block.  Diagram 2: 1/8 of the completed block.

In picture 2, you see Diagram 3: You make 4 of these blocks.  Diagram 4: You sew 2 of them together, making half the finished block.

Then you sew them together, making the one shown at the beginning.  (You didn’t notice the color change much, did you?)  I made that one and then decided to make the next one and photo as I went.  Here it is again!

Right now, I am planning to make 4 blocks but have materials for 10.  That would be killer big!  I will probably make some kind of border sashing using just maybe half blocks going off the edges.  We’ll see.

And what do you have to share with us?
