IAN: Thursday 8/13/2020 Birthdays in the time of Covid

OMG, I can’t even believe how beautiful we were in 1984.  My brother from another family is on my right and Mr. Zen is on the left, Lil Zen is in the middle of my middle!  She won’t let me post pix of her and I respect that.  So this is the closest I can manage.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!

IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

This diary seems to be just running thoughts with no point other than being separate from each other all the time is unnatural for humans and I am suffering from that as much as from fear of covid.  The urge to reach out to comfort, to aid, to greet others is so ingrained in humans that I am at a loss to control it all the time.  That anxiety permeates my daily life, running in the background like white noise.  I noticed last night at the restaurant that Sylvana reached out to touch my husband’s back and pulled her hand up short to stop.  We are all doing the best we can.

Sunday the 16th is Lil Zen’s 36th birthday.  The three of us talked about it last week and she is not ready for even a small family gathering.  We understand so there will be no get together this year.  We hope it is better next year. She is ordering car speakers on my account from Amazon for her birthday gift.  I guess that is contactless gifting at its best!

All over the country, all over the world, people are missing their families.  I envy those who are sheltered with their children.  I wish Lil Zen had been living here when this hit but at least Mr. Zen and I have each other.  I shudder to think how awful it would be to be completely alone.  On my two block range, there are no people who are alone.  I see most of them at some time or another although less since I can’t walk the dog.

Be safe and be well.
