“It never rains in California...” is our usual refrain here. Pam and ej are in cooler climes, rainier times, but down here, not so much. Today was predicted to rain although yesterday was dry, sunny, blustery. We scoffed but made plans that we could give up. That became the case because it did rain, however briefly. Down in Long Beach, Lil Zen said the lightning flashed and the thunder almost knocked the cats out of the cat tree. I did not get either here, just a little rain and now, it is sunny again, but very cold. It is supposed to be warmer tomorrow. This is the rainy season in So Cal. “I came to say, I can not stay, I must be going!”

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

I had planned to fry pork chops, make au gratin potatoes, and bake corn bread for dinner tonight. I can’t do anything ahead on any of these dishes so I would be busy in the kitchen for quite a while at a time I have a low energy level but that happens. Mr. Zen likes to eat at 7pm, so it is at the end of my day. Usually, I try to do as much early in the day as possible. But it is raining, and he called earlier to ask for his fave rainy day comfort dinner- grilled cheese sandwiches and clam chowder. Let’s see, can I slice up a few different cheeses, butter some bread, put sammies on the griddle and watch them cook after putting a can of soup, no water necessary, into a pan to heat? Why, yes I can. He likes Progresso soup and I have some cheedar/broccoli soup mix that I just got from ALDI this morning on a test run shopping there. We’ll see how much I like it but I can always add more cheese and broccoli if needed. So it will be an easy meal for me and tomorrow is another day for pork chops!
Be safe and be well.
