Razzle has reached the stage in her recuperation where she needs gentle exercise, meaning 2 or 3 15 minute walks on a short leash. Mr. Zen walks her on his days off but I had not walked her myself since my arm got broken in a tussle between a tree and my wrist with a leash on it. She is big and can be distracted in a New York minute. But I have been taking her out at 630a when the local world is mostly getting ready for work and not out on the streets, I just have to be cautious.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

I walk on the side of the street that is 6 blocks long with no streets coming into it on one side. I can see a long way, watch for other people with dogs to take evasive action if needed, and have a buffer between us and the rest of the neighborhood.
Now, cats, squirrels, chickens, they make their way into our path some mornings. The funny thing is she doesn’t mind them, is mildly interested but does not chase. The other day a young cat was playing in the middle of the street with a squirrel. They chased back and forth, running up a tree. Razzle stood at attention like she does at the park and watched. She does bark at the crows who bark back at her in their own voices. They go along the wires and tell others we are coming. I remember them doing that with her when I walked her before.
A few mornings ago, I heard a ruckus in the den and when I got there, I found a tuxedo cat racing around the den, looking to get out before Razzle caught her. A new neighbor cat that saw an open door and wandered in to find herself nose to nose with a big dog. Razzle did not catch her.
I was bringing her home this morning and saw the next door neighbor’s cat, Tobias. I called him and told him he was a noble looking beast and then I saw the neighbor watching me and his cat and chuckling. Yeah, Frank, I talk to your cat.
I will only do this for a couple of weeks and then she can go on longer walks with Mr. Zen. I will miss the walks with her but find them boring alone. She will miss them too.
