In the world of commercial food, what you wrap in a wonton and what you wrap in a street taco define the name of the food. If you order a street taco at a taco joint, you know what will be in it: meat, onions, cilantro, lime and guacamole. The wontons at your local Chinese place will be pork and often garlic or finely chopped green onion.
But since 2020 and then Bill’s cancer, my food life has changed drastically and I use all my left overs for more meals. It saves food and money. So a street taco or a wonton may not be just what you think at my house.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

My Saturday BFF and I went out to dinner last week instead of lunch. It was a nice change and we went to a Thai restaurant called Panvimarn. I had Thai BBQ pork with a spicy sauce. It was delicious. I had the same dish a few weeks ago so I knew to get some of that sauce to take home with my left over pork.
Last night, I chopped the meat up small, reheated it in a pan and then cooked corn tortillas in butter in that pan. I made a “street taco” by adding the meat, pouring some sauce over them and rolling them up. They were so good! I tell you!
In the same idea, I will take left over Sesame Chicken, chop it up finely, add cream cheese, green onions and a little cabbage and plop it all into a wonton skin or an egg roll wrapper. Deep fry til golden brown delish and dip into sweet and sour sauce. These are great as additions to a meal of refried reheated rice and broccoli beef.
I am learning that left overs are what you make of them. I seldom used them before because there was seldom enough to make a meal for both of us. I eat a lot less that I used to and we are looking forward to the day Bill is able to eat again.
How do you maximize your left overs?
