IAN:Thursday 12/28/2023 The Lull and the Chance

The week between Christmas and New Year’s is always weird for me.  The let down after the big dinner and all that brings a certain rest but looking forward to New Year’s involves decisions and resolutions.  I put off stuff til after the end of the holidays and try to get back on track on the 2nd of January.  My mother’s birthday is the 4th so I always had that to plan for but since she is gone, the first of the year just means getting finances in order for the coming 12 months.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!

IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

I mentioned that I have a chance to put a quilt into a rather large quilt show here in January called Road to California.  It brings in a lot of people, there are tons o quilts, classes, and vendors to catch your eye.  The lady I worked with earlier this year on the bookcase quilt for the Covina Library has a job at Road to California and it involves a display of some kind.  She asked me if I would lend my bookcase quilt that I am working on and I would be proud to if I can get it finished by 1/13 to give to her.  This means I have to devote much more time to it and let other things go, like my Dollar Tree DIYs for door prizes in January.  When I tell the guild I have a chance to put a quilt into the show, they will understand.  I hope.  Now, this quilt is not selected, invited, juried, voted on or anything like that.  My work is not up to their standards but because I know the curator of this display, I get a chance.

So, I am off to continue working on it now.  I have a little over two weeks and should be able to do it if I stick to it and don’t wander off, hang out online all day, or watch videos.  Send me luck and the resolve to get it done.

Have a good day all.
