All I have written about in the last week or so is the upcoming quilt show and the data base work I have been doing. It is coming down to the end soon. But, I had an interesting experience yesterday.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!

One of my guild sisters has nothing more modern in the communications area than a land line and a flip phone. No email, no social media, no navigation apps. So she could not find my house yesterday to drop off her entry forms. We chatted and she told me she was going to be playing pool at a local pub and I could come over there and get the forms. It was close, why not?
I had visions of her surrounded by men, playing like grandma. Let me tell you how wrong I was! First off, she is a locally well known pool shark. She doesn’t mess around. Second, there were only a few men but the place was packed with a women’s pool group. My friend was the only grandma, all the other ladies were not young, still working by the look of their dresses and 6” high heels with the pointy toes and bright colors! They were having a fine time and knew what was what as far as I could tell. I got the forms from my friend, watched the ladies play for a few minutes and came home. It was an eye opener. I had not been in a stand alone bar for literally decades. I had no idea!
How about you? Any new experiences to keep you alert? I won’t be here tomorrow between 930a and 1130a California time. I am taking a class online to be a Deputy Commissioner of Civil Marriage to perform a marriage ceremony for friends next month. I haven’t done that since the lock down. It will be a boring class but a fun event. I will be checking in before and after. Have a good day.
Ps: Today is my 42nd wedding anniversary. We both forgot completely with all the hubbub going on. That’s a first!
