When I rescued Razzle from the pound in June of 2014, they guestimated her age about about 6months old when they picked her up, making her birthday sometime in November 2013.  She had been in the shelter for a few weeks by the time I saw her.  My brother’s birthday was November 7th, so I decided it was hers too.  This Monday, she turned 3 years old.  Time flies when you’re having fun.

We moved into the house my mother and grandmother had built for us when I was a kid on Wyn’s birthday  Nov 7th 1958.  It was raining, Wyn was unhappy, my baby brother Tracy was 6 months old and we had no lights in the kitchen.  That problem turned out to be that they had plastered over the light switch, leaving not a trace of where it should have been.  The architect, who lived at the other end of the block, came over, took a hammer and smacked the wall, right where the buried switch box was located and about gave my mother a heart attack.  We had lights, Wyn got his cake and some presents, Tracy snuggled warmly into a cradle and it was a fine night in our new house.

I moved out of that house on Nov 8, 1989, with my husband and our 5 year old daughter.  We moved into the house where we live today.  Mr Zen closed the door of the truck, closing me inside with Lil Zen in her car seat and we drove away without a backward glance.  We knew we would never go back, never see it again, and that it would remain fixed in our minds forever.

And so it has come to 2016.  Razzle got the red “you are special” plate, covered in foil, and she was happy.  Its a good house, she’s a good dog, I hope this was a good story.
