IAN: Thursday 2/22/2018 My Dog is Going to Pot

I had noticed in the last few weeks that Razzle was favoring her right back leg occasionally.  It wasn’t often and she didn’t whine or complain but just limped once in a while.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!

IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

As you may know, I lost my last dog, Rubi-dog of my heart, to cancer 4 years ago.  You may not know that I lost another dog just before her to cancer as well.  So I am a little sensitive about these things.  I was checking Razzle’s body for lumps or oddnesses when I noticed an “swelling” on her left hip so it was off the to vet the next day.

There was no swelling, her left hip bone is just a little higher than her right and it looked suspicious.  But after all the xrays and tests, we found she has arthritis in her right knee.  They gave her a shot that is a lubricant for the joints, and about a ton of supplements like glucosamine and omega 3 oils.  She is supposed to get that shot once a week for the next 7 weeks and then at some more stretched out time interval.

Here’s the thing-I am going to try CBD chews for her, so my dog is going to pot.  My husband has arthritis in his back but I can not get him to do bo diddly about it.  I have tried to get him to investigate CBDs and yoga but NOOOOOOOOOOO!  Well, Razzle, poor darling, is at my mercy and I read good results from CBD use in dogs.  I know for sure it can not hurt her and how tough will it be for her to get bacon flavored chews every day?  This blend contains all of the supplements she has been prescribed plus the hemp oil.

I don’t know how well this will work or how long it will take to see results.  If any of you have any stories from personal knowledge, I would appreciate knowing it.  I have my own experience with marijuana but have never used CBDs.  I will update this as time goes on and let you all know how she is doing.

Update:  I got the chews a few days ago.  They are little green heart shaped soft chews that look fuzzy.  She likes them and the dose for her equals half of all the oils and supplements she was prescribed so I lessened those to add the new ones and she gets everything plus the CBD oil.  The product is called “Hemp and Hips” and it has good reviews from its users but we know how that can be.  It will be a while before I know if they are helping her.
