We have lived in our house for 32 years in November. You can imagine or have lived 30 years in the same house and you know there is ancient dust under some of that furniture. Get kittens!

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

A few days after we brought Moose and Squirrel home, I noticed their noses were a little crusty. I was worried they had not totally recovered from an upper respiratory infection they had while with their foster mom. I had them checked out at the vet and basically they were over that. Ok, so what’s with their noses?
As time went on and their noses needed to be cleaned every morning, I developed other theories about what the problem was. I decided for a while that it may be that they could get under all the heavy furniture that hasn’t been moved in 30 years and breathe in a lot of dust. But while they were playing, hiding, traveling under the giant book case or the big armoire filled with art supplies, they have found more than dust.
Squirrel’s collar and tag disappeared about a week after she got it. I looked high and low but never saw a sign of it until one morning, it appeared, a little dusty, under the dining room table. Since then, they have pulled out 2 dowels of differing diameters and lengths, a magnet they stole off the aquarium, and small clips I use in quilting. But I have developed another theory about their noses.
I think it may be cat food. They push it into the sides of their bowls and I wonder if that’s the problem. I am going to try feeding them on flat saucers rather than bowls and see it that helps. I suspect that it just means cat food will end up off the saucers and on the mat, but we’ll see.
When they aren’t under the furniture, eating, or sleeping, they help me do my quilting. They are lots of help if you consider that they steal everything they can get hold of help. Squirrel is on the sewing machine table and Moose has commandeered my chair.
