Squirrel turns out the be the Edmund Hilary of house kittehs.  She has scaled the pet screening covering the bookcase, making it to the top but not able to get up on it.  I squirted her and she dropped to the floor.  It was a sign of things to come.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!

IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

A couple of days ago, I heard a strange noise and went to investigate.  I have a brick wall with a fireplace in the den.  She was 2/3 of the way up the wall, scratching at the mortar between the brick for purchase and heading for the ceiling.  She was just hanging there, looking around.  I squirted her and she dropped to the floor.

I use a little squirt bottle to break up fights when one of them gets to crying.  I use it to say “No, don’t do that” without having to be close to them.  They will soon learn to stop whatever they are doing when they see that bottle.  Or they will soon learn to shake off the water drops and go right on marauding through the house.

I used to toss bean bags.  Those cats would hear the beans rattle inside the bags and they would head for the high country.  All had to do was shake one.

True story: I made little bean bags to throw at the cats years ago.  I used a bit of a jeans leg and sewed 4 little 2 in square bags.  In preparation to make them, I bought a bag of pinto beans.  Not knowing how much I needed, I bought a 10 lb bag of pinto beans!  I couldn’t figure out that I only needed less than a cup of beans for such small bags.  I had pinto beans for years.  My spacial concepts leave a lot to be desired.

No bean bags this time I think.  These two would stand up on their hind legs and bat them back at me.
