IAN: Thursday 7/20/2023 A Mingle of Crafts (photos ahead)

Here are pix of the 10 items I made for my quilt guild door prizes this month.  Half are 4th of July themed. I really wanted to keep a few of them but the joy is in the doing.  If I kept all of them I liked, I would be a hoarder and my family would call for an intervention.  Come on in and see what I did this month.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!

IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

America the Beautiful.  It is a beautiful country that we live in, filled with all the wonders Mother Nature provides.  Few places have so much of so much.  I hope we can alter course and start to undo the damage we have done.  I have hope.

I did like this one a bunch.

My husband smoked cigars years ago and I, like the pack rat I am, kept the glass tubes some of them came in.  I have used this idea before but this tube was plastic.  Still, it worked nicely.

This little planter uses parts of a place mat for the art on a sign that was already painted that blue color.  I thought it was just a sweet little item for a window sill or patio table.

blue box-red flowers

I cut the house shape out of cardboard and put it on the wooden sign with the fork and spoon cut outs.  There is a flower box behind the front wheel of the bicycle and the wheels turn.  I was taken with this one too but it is easily reproduced so I may do that.

Home for Breakfast

I used a Dollar Tree chair cover for the colors.  It was synthetic and nasty to work with and did not want to stick to the plastic pop corn box.  I persisted and made it work but was glad to see it taken early in the give away.  I do think the pom pom bows made great fireworks exploding above the flowers.

A wooden hat, fabric to cover it and paper cores wrapped in fabric for fire crackers.  I thought this turned out quite well and love the fire crackers.

4th of July Hat

This is 2 sided, with the other side being more patriotic.  It spins nicely.  The prez of the guild took this today and then sent me pix of her cats, lined up at the door, intently watching it spin.

streamer

I used fabric here again.  The truth is I do not have the steady hand required to paint the stripes and the fabric worked so well.  It was a little left over scrap and I put it to the best use.  I loved this one.  I really wanted to keep it.  It worked so well considering the stripes are in two pieces with the twine artfully crisscrossing where they joined.  But, I let it go and have the picture.

This is part of a place mat adhered to a pizza pan.  I just liked it.  It got an early home too.

Seasoned Kitchen

This is the last one.  It is a sweet hanging sign.  It is cooler just to look at the watermelons as far as I am concerned.

Thank you for looking at my endeavors.  I feel like tfg here, but many ladies came up to me today and thanked me for doing these and to keep up the good work. (No one was crying nor did anyone call me “Sir”.)  I was humbled and felt loved.  We can all benefit from both emotions, probably more than we realize sometimes.
