As I read DK, I wonder about the names that we take for ourselves on social media. Facebook mostly has people’s real names but everywhere else I look, there are these nom de plumes. I can figure out some and am baffled by others but believe that something clever is behind each of them. Are you willing to tell what yours means?
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!

When I joined here, I took some time to come up with a name that I found descriptive. I dabble in art of all kinds. I am better at some than others but I have had my moments of “artist” rather than just crafts person, if you get the difference. I say I am an artist in my profile but that is a title I have only claimed in the last few years. Before that, I was artsy-craftsy. But I settled on “art ah zen” to signify I am an artisan, defined online as “a worker in a skilled trade, especially one that involves making things by hand.” and that I did zentangles and zen inspired art. I like it and only use it here.
