Now that the 4th is over and the debris has been cleared from the gutters, it is time to get on with summer. I think of watermelon as a kid, in the yard so we could all be messy.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!

I know that it is extremely hot in much of the world, but right now, for this minute, here in my little bit of the world, it is quite nice. We had a strange weather fact the other day where there was a 40 degree difference in temps from Long Beach in the high 60’s and over 100 in a nearby inland area. Usually, the wind blows from the ocean inland, cooling the area as it goes. But at certain time of the year, it blows from the inland hot desert area to the ocean, making everything very hot and sticky and everyone short tempered and unhappy. Right now, they are both blowing, competing and that accounts for the differences. It is cool where I am in the morning and warm in the afternoon.
It won’t last, I’m sure. It will be hot as blazes here soon and into October but cool down in time for Halloween. Or not, climate change it real although the effects are not even. So “When the World Is Running Down, You Make the Best of What's Still Around" like Sting sings.
