Last week I showed the first 5 DIYs, not knowing that I would wind up making 13 this month before I forced myself to stop and start a quilt. See more below. Most pix taken with the objects laying on a table for ease of photoing. It can give some of them an odd perspective.
I made the iridescent white wreath last week and here is a blue and silver one. It has a cool, icy look. When I decorate for Christmas, I have a white, silver, and blue swag arrangement that goes over an opening into the kitchen. I love the colors together.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

This is just a little wooden sled and I had a hard time writing “Let it snow” on it because I needed to be a able to draw in the cracks. No bueno.
I thought this was a cute idea. I took the center 100 pages or so, cut off the top half of them and then folded about 10 sections of 10 pages together into hot glue on the spine. It made a nice little display for fake florals. Great idea from YouTube.
The is the messed up but rehabbed wooden sled that I had from last week. I used Aleene’s Burnt Brown Bag trick. The black runners are the color and texture you get from burning the wet glue and wiping the soot off. The copper color is what happens when you paint metallics over that black. I learned this in high school. There are some gorgeous examples of art online done using it. Here is the video done by her daughters. It shows the texture much better.
This is an idea from the same video as the book planter. I just covered a hard back book with this napkin and I think it is real cute for some reason. I made one for myself too.
This started out as a top for a painted can but was a structural failure that I rescued for a little tchotchke.
Bill used to bring home big thick cardboard tubes from shrink wrap used at the warehouse. I have done lots of things with them over the years. This is the latest. Not fancy, but cute and it is recycled!
I am finished for the year with these. I’ll start again in the new year but I’ll be winding it all down through the year. I put out an invitation for a guild sister to join me in the new year but no one has been beating down the door. I know when I leave the position, no one will do this kind of thing. It will be back to donated patterns and sewing tools. That’s ok with me. I was driven to do this for reasons yet to be revealed.
Have a good day.
