Bill bought these wonderful shears for me for Christmas last year. They are so nice, very sharp, heavy enough to feel real and cut fabric like it is warm butter. I love them. This year, the company sent both of us ads for their Christmas sale. It became funny.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

They have a large selection of their shears, snips, and scissors on a very good sale. The prices were marked down and if you bought 4 items or more, you got the two least expensive free. I bought a pair of shears for Margie, 2 thread nippers (one for me, one for a future quilt guild raffle basket) and selected a pair of fat handled small ones for myself called the Little Giant. That pair and one of the snips were free and the other two were well worth the price.
Meanwhile, in the other room, Bill was looking at the same ad. He came through the sewing area and casually asked about the state of my very own snips, to which I replied “They are shit! I need new ones. They are cheap to begin with.” without thinking that he would want to buy the snips for me. So then we had a conversation about it all and he paid for the charged pair as a gift to me. Ok, that was great. But it was hollow for him.
Then I thought that I would buy him a new bougainvillea to replace the one we lost last year. The subject came up and he said he had been considering that too. I said “Let’s to go the nursery together, pick out one we both like, plant it together tomorrow and call it Christmas.” He was pleased with that and we bought it today. It is purple (the other one was red) and will grow into a lovely vine bush with lots of thorns he will have to avoid when he trims it. It will make us both happy.
Then lil zen showed up and told me she had been considering buying a new bush for us and was dithering between red or purple. LOL!!
Here is a link to the outdated sale page for the scissor company. www.guggenhein.com/...
I am not suggesting that you buy any because the sale is over and you may not care much about scissors but if you do, these are lovely to see. They are presented like works of art with all the finest production values but my experience is that they are not over hyping what they sell. One of my friends said she damaged her pair and contacted the company to buy a new pair. They told her to keep them and sent a new pair without any charges or questions. Good deal.
