DK Quilt Guild is a place for quilters to gather, share ideas, projects, and to make the world a better place, one quilt at a time. Join us and share your thoughts, projects, questions, and tips. Quilters here are at many different levels of skill. Beginners and non-quilters are welcome, too.

We Need Writers for the DK Quilt Guild Diaries. Would you like to write a future DK Quilt Guild diary? Please join in! Please volunteer within the comments or you can send Pam from Calif a kosmail.  Right now, I think any future Sunday is available.

I have been very busy preparing for my local guild’s upcoming quilt show.  I am tracking and doing all the paperwork for each entry.  We usually show between 150 to 200 never shown quilts so there is a lot of computer work.  It is getting heavy now because the end of registration is Sept 5th.

I am trying to get a little quilting done while getting the computer work done too, so I have a couple of PHD’s, that being “projects half done”.  One is my entry for our small quilt challenge shown above.  We have to use fabric with dots and it can only be 18x24.  I do not have the binding done yet but I like the quilting.  After the show, this will top a small rectangular table in my den.  Right now there is a Christmas runner, left over from last year or early for this year, take your pick.  But this one will replace it.  I like the pattern a lot and will be making a full size quilt in two shades of grey and a gorgeous burgundy for the top of the cubes.  That will have to wait until after my road trip I think.

The other is the table runner shown here. ( I took this picture 6 times and none of them was any better than this.  Sorry.) As I was leaving Helping Hands a couple of weeks ago, Ginie stopped me, with some fabric in her hand.  She asked if I could do something with it, and it was 3 completed blocks and the accent fabric bits, obviously left over from a larger project.  I took it all and made this table runner out of it.  One of the blocks was not put together correctly, so I took it apart and fixed it and then sashed between the blocks and made the triangle border.  That border was hard to get right at the inside corners and it is not really kosher but it will be fine when I quilt it flat. I will back it with a Christmas double wedding ring fabric and be able to use it on both sides.

I will get these finished pretty soon. (Or else!) For a change, neither of this will be donated but will instead be used in my home.  What a concept! What PHD’s do you have hanging around, waiting?  These are not my only ones, they are just the ones that have a real chance of becoming DONE!
